ATHE Level 5 Extended Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning

The ATHE Level 5 Extended Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning is a UK-regulated qualification designed for individuals working, or planning to work, in teaching assistant, learning support, and education support roles at a higher level.

This programme develops the knowledge, understanding, and practical skills needed to support teaching and learning in schools, colleges, training centres, and other educational organisations.

The Extended Diploma is the full qualification in this specification. It gives learners deeper knowledge and broader practical skills compared to the standard Diploma, especially in areas such as inclusive education, positive behaviour management, learner development, health and safety, classroom support, and professional development.

This qualification is best suited for learners who want to strengthen their education support practice and progress into higher responsibility roles within teaching and learning environments.

Academic Requirements

Admission Requirements:

This qualification is generally designed for learners aged 20 and above.

Typical entry may include one or more of the following:

A first degree
OR a Level 4 qualification
OR a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification or above in English / Literacy and Mathematics / Numeracy
OR equivalent international qualifications
OR relevant experience working with students, learners, or training participants

Mature learners may also be considered based on relevant work experience, paid or unpaid, especially where they have held responsibilities related to education, training, learner support, or student development.

Learners must also have a suitable standard of:

IT skills
